Troubleshooting

Zoom Phone SMS not working? Start here.

Texts stuck, not delivering, or not arriving? Nine times out of ten it's registration. Work through this checklist in order — most people find the fix in the first two steps.

Most likely cause

If texting recently stopped or never worked at all, check A2P 10DLC registration first (step 1). US carriers block unregistered business texting, and this is by far the most common reason Zoom Phone SMS fails.

The 7-step checklist

  1. Confirm 10DLC registration is approved. In the Zoom admin portal, check that your brand and campaign are registered and in an approved (not pending or rejected) state. Unregistered numbers are the #1 cause of blocked texts.
  2. Verify the number is SMS-enabled.Not every Zoom Phone number supports texting. Confirm SMS/MMS is enabled on the specific DID you're sending from.
  3. Check your SMS policy setting. An admin can disable SMS at the account, site, or user level. Make sure SMS is turned on for your Zoom Phone policy.
  4. Make sure you're texting the US or Canada. Zoom Phone SMS/MMS covers US and Canadian numbers. International texting is not supported.
  5. Confirm the recipient isn't a landline or short code.Texts to landlines and short codes won't deliver. Try a known mobile number to isolate the problem.
  6. Update and restart the Zoom app. An outdated client or a stale session can break the SMS panel. Update, sign out and back in, and try again.
  7. Review message content and volume. Spam-like content, link shorteners, or bursts of identical messages can trip carrier filtering even after registration. Keep messages personal and paced.
Working again?

Once texts flow reliably, make sure no message goes unanswered. AutoReply texts callers back automatically when you miss a call or get a voicemail — using the same SMS that's now working.

Still stuck?

If you've confirmed registration, an SMS-enabled number, and an enabled policy and texts still fail, contact Zoom support — the issue is likely in carrier vetting or provisioning on Zoom's side. For how SMS works end to end, see the Zoom Phone SMS guide.

Frequently asked questions

Why are my Zoom Phone texts not sending?

The most common reason is incomplete A2P 10DLC registration. US carriers filter or block business texts until your brand and campaign are registered and approved in the Zoom admin portal. Other causes include no SMS-enabled number, texting outside the US/Canada, or messaging a landline.

Why am I not receiving texts on Zoom Phone?

Check that your number is SMS-enabled, that SMS is turned on for your Zoom Phone policy, and that the sender isn't a short code or landline. If 10DLC is still pending, inbound delivery can also be affected.

How long does 10DLC registration take on Zoom Phone?

Brand verification is often quick, but campaign approval can take anywhere from a day to a couple of weeks depending on the carrier vetting process. Texts may be unreliable until approval completes.

Does AutoReply need SMS to be working?

Yes. AutoReply for Zoom Phone sends its text-backs through your Zoom Phone SMS, so your number must be SMS-enabled and 10DLC-registered for auto-replies to deliver.
