AutoReply for Zoom Phone — FAQ
Common questions about setup, features, and billing.
- What do I need to use AutoReply?
- AutoReply needs three things set up on your Zoom account before it can function:
- An active Zoom Phone license assigned to your user — see Zoom's guide to managing phone users
- A phone number (DID) assigned to your user — see Zoom's guide to managing phone numbers
- SMS enabled on that number — see Zoom's guide to setting up SMS
- What does AutoReply for Zoom Phone do?
- It automatically sends SMS replies from your own Zoom Phone number when you miss a call, receive a voicemail, or can't respond to a text. Replies appear natively in your Zoom Phone SMS inbox — contacts see the message as coming from your number.
- Does it work with my existing Zoom Phone number?
- Yes. AutoReply uses your existing Zoom Phone number to send messages. No new number is required, and replies stay in your Zoom SMS thread alongside regular messages.
- What's the difference between Free and Pro?
- Free covers missed calls and voicemails with a default reply message, a fixed 3-minute delay, business hours scheduling, a global pause toggle, and unlimited replies — replies send only during the hours you set.
Pro ($8.99/month, 7-day free trial) adds auto-replies to unanswered texts, custom templates for each scenario, an adjustable delay (1 minute to 2 hours), a separate after-hours template, and a smart filter that skips short or conversational texts. - How does billing work?
- Billing is handled entirely through Zoom Marketplace. Your subscription is managed in Zoom — there is no separate checkout or payment form on our end. To upgrade, downgrade, or cancel, go to Zoom Marketplace → Manage → Subscriptions.
- How do I access my settings?
- Go to arzoom.app/settings, or open the Zoom desktop or mobile app and find AutoReply under Marketplace → My Library (on mobile and older desktop versions, that tab is labeled Apps). From there you can manage templates, business hours, delay, and pause status.
- Checkout won't open — Zoom Marketplace just reloads the page. Why?
- You select a plan — a trial or a paid plan — and the page reloads back to the listing instead of opening checkout, with no error. Two causes account for almost all of these:
- The Free app is still installed. Zoom allows one AutoReply plan per account, so the installed Free app blocks the Pro trial checkout. Remove AutoReply in Zoom Marketplace first, then start the trial. Removing it deletes your stored settings, so note your business hours and custom messages beforehand.
- Zoom's new Marketplace experience. Switch the Try new experience toggle in the top right of Zoom Marketplace off, then select your plan again.
- Can users be on different AutoReply plans (some on Pro and some on Business) at the same time?
- No. Zoom only allows one AutoReply plan per account — you can't mix plans across your users. This is a common cause of licensing problems: if you trial or buy a few Pro seats and later grow onto Business (or vice versa) without moving everyone over, some users are left without an active license. That shows up as a permission that won't stay allowed, or a “phone license required” message even though their Zoom Phone number and SMS are set up. (Buying Business often drops an existing Pro trial, since Zoom won't allow both.)
The fix is to put every user on the same plan — Business for 5 or more users, Pro for 4 or fewer — then have each user reopen AutoReply so it re-checks their license.
Step-by-step instructions - Will it spam my contacts?
- No. AutoReply includes multiple protections: 12-hour deduplication prevents sending to the same number more than once per 12-hour window, internal coworker numbers are automatically skipped, and smart cancellation suppresses replies if you respond before the delay expires. Calls flagged by Zoom's built-in spam detection are also ignored.
- What cancels a pending auto-reply?
- Only your own response. If you call or text the contact back during the delay window — or they ring back and you answer — the pending reply is cancelled automatically, so no duplicate message goes out. The contact sending you more texts does not cancel it.
- Does it reply to internal coworkers?
- No. Internal extensions and coworker numbers are automatically detected and excluded. Auto-replies only go to external contacts.
- Does it work with call queues or shared lines?
- No. AutoReply only triggers on calls made directly to your personal Zoom Phone number. Calls routed through call queues, auto attendants, or shared line groups do not trigger auto-replies, since those are not direct missed calls to your number.
- Is my data secure?
- Yes. AutoReply connects through Zoom's official OAuth flow via the Zoom Marketplace. We never see or store your Zoom password, and we only access the permissions required to monitor Zoom Phone events and send SMS on your behalf. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
- How do I check why an auto-reply did or didn't send?
- Open arzoom.app/settings and view the Recent Activity log. It shows each event the app detected, whether a reply was sent or cancelled, and the reason. This is the best first step for any troubleshooting question.
- How do I uninstall the app?
- Remove AutoReply from your installed apps in Zoom Marketplace. Uninstalling immediately stops all auto-reply activity and triggers deletion of your associated data from our systems.
- Can I customize the reply message?
- On the Free plan, a default reply message is used. On Pro, you can create separate templates for missed calls, voicemails, after-hours situations, and unanswered texts. Manage them at arzoom.app/settings.
